There is a lot of jargon in the sign making industry such as metal letters, backlit letters, acrylic letters and all of these terms can be used interchangeably. But which exactly are channel letters? How is an inexperienced person going to differentiate between these? One term can be substituted for many signage, but the products have different structures and different names, so now let's look at exactly what type of product can be called a channel letter.
♦ What is a channel letter?
Channel letters are letters made of metal or acrylic that can be customized to any size and of course can be both illuminated and non-illuminated. Every channel letter has a raceway to install the LED strip. Many customers prefer to install their channel letters as outdoor signage, and the fonts and colours and thicknesses are variable. Illuminated channel letters are available in two types of illumination, such as face and back lit, the latter also known as halo lit, each with its own highlights to emphasise the message.
Many channel letters are made using trim caps, which are moulds obtained by bending and welding aluminium or stainless steel materials, and are mainly used to fix the front and back of the channel letters. Strictly speaking, only Trim Cap Letters can be called channel letters, but currently the sign industry refers to all signs with internal hollow mounted LED strips as channel letters. So that's why many people can't tell the difference between the two types.
♦ Why Choose SatinSign channel metal letters?
We produce both Trim Cap letters as well as other types of channel letters. All of our export products are made from high quality acrylic and 304 stainless steel, which is more costly than the aluminium channel letters used by our competitors, but our manufacturing capabilities and metal materials provide stronger, longer lasting letters, and we pay more attention to the quality and longevity of the products.
